(NEXSTAR) – For most of us, flying is usually a breeze, from arriving at the airport to boarding the plane to picking up your luggage and moving on to your destination. Unfortunately for some, despite their best efforts, they may find themselves watching their plane take off without them. Maybe it’s happened to you: You book your flight in advance, you pick your seat (if your airline allows it), and you arrive on time at your gate — only to find out your flight is overbooked. An airline overbooking the flight (also known as "overselling" the flight) is completely legal, the U.S. Department of Transportation explains. The practice allows carriers to sell more boarding passes than there are seats on a plane to compensate for passengers that do not arrive for the flight. When a flight is oversold, airlines will first ask for volunteers to give up their seat. If there aren't enough volunteers, some passengers will be involuntarily denied boarding. Bear bites camper relaxing in hammock in Colorado, officials say

DENVER (KDVR) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife says officers are searching for a black bear that bit a man's arm while he was relaxing in a hammock at a campground near Trinidad.The victim told CPW that he heard a rustling noise late Saturday night while in the hammock and turned on his headlamp. He saw a dark-colored bear next to him. Repeat offender bear euthanized in Boulder The bear then bit the man on his upper right arm before turning and wandering off.The man left the campground and went to a motel before calling an ambulance for treatment of his wound, which appeared to be a 2-3-inch bite, CPW said.He told CPW that he had no food or other attractants with him in the hammock that may have lured the bear.CPW was notified of the attack after 10 p.m. and immediately began a search of the campground. (NEWS10) -- Four people were arrested following a shoplifting investigation from the Wilton Ulta, with one of them being accused of conspiracy, according to New York State Police.  Myunique Mcqueen (20, Albany), Jonneasia Welcome (19, Albany), Kamel Pickens (32, Albany), and an 18-year-old each face multiple charges. HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A charter bus carrying up to 50 people crashed and hit another vehicle on a Pennsylvania interstate, killing three bus passengers, state police said.The wreck happened during heavy rain around 11:50 p.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 81 just north of Harrisburg, state police said. The bus drove off the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled onto its right side before hitting the back of a car that was stopped in the right lane of traffic, according to a crash report.The three passengers were declared dead at the scene, the police report said, and others suffered injuries that ranged from minor to severe. A dispute inside a vehicle led to a stabbing that left one woman dead and another injured in Hollywood Monday morning. Police responded to reports of a stabbing in the 7200 block of West Sunset Boulevard around 1:45 a.m., according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson. Los Angeles city workers are planning to go on a 24-hour strike Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Striking workers will picket at Los Angeles City Hall and LAX, worker union SEIU Local 721 indicated on Twitter.They join hotel workers, UPS workers, writers and actors in using strikes — or the threats of strikes — to negotiate for better wages and benefits from their employees.The L.A. city worker strike would be the first in 15 years, the Los Angeles Times reports.
