Back on Nov. 8, Bill Guerin had seen enough from Calen Addison, a young defenseman with a mostly offensive upside that the Wild GM had dragged his feet on, finally signing him to a one-year deal days before training camp started.The Wild had played 12 games, and Guerin used the only real tool a salary-cap challenged team has at its disposal to replace him, trading Addison to San Jose for a low-end prospect and draft pick, then acquiring Zach Bogosian from Tampa Bay for a seventh-round draft pick.The takeaway?“I don’t need 70 games to figure out what we need,” Guerin said at the time.So, when the Wild were staggering to the quarter pole — losers of seven straight, and 11 of 13 overall — Guerin made another, bigger move to improve his team, firing head coach Dean Evason and replacing him with John Hynes. Nick Mullens will be the starting quarterback for the Vikings moving forward.The official announcement came from head coach Kevin O’Connell on Tuesday before the Vikings held a walkthrough practice at TCO Performance Center. Braeden Carrington to step away from Gophers men’s basketball program

Gophers sophomore guard Braeden Carrington is taking an indefinite break from the U men’s basketball program to focus on his mental health.“There’s areas of my life I am looking to improve and must step away from the program and put myself first,” Carrington wrote on X on Tuesday. “I plan on returning to the team when the time is right. For now please respect my space and allow me to ultimately do what’s best for me. Thank you Gopher fans.”Gophers head coach Ben Johnson added in a statement: “We fully support Braeden as he takes this time to focus on his mental health. A small business in Saratoga Springs temporarily closed after thieves stole what the owner says was hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise. BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Elderly residents in Bethlehem are urged to be wary of a phone scam requesting cash. Police say the scammers will claim there is an emergency involving a family member or that bail money is needed to get a family member out of jail. St. Louis Catholic schools to remain open after closure threats

ST. LOUIS -- Many Catholic schools were waiting on an announcement from the archdiocese about closures. Over the past 20 years, enrollment has dropped from 40,000 to less than 20,000. The Archdiocese notified about 26 schools that they might be closing. It appears that they will remain open.The Office of Catholic Education and Formation, along with Episcopal Vicars, met with archdiocesan pastors to evaluate elementary school sustainability. Pastors recommend keeping schools open for 2024-25, with standalone schools submitting long-term plans by Feb 1, 2024. Bay FC adds former NWSL Best XI center back, two others in trio of trades
